New Atlanta Year 2033

New Atlanta Year 2033

Back Story:     Shortly after the the globally-catastrophic war of 2016, dubbed World War 3, underwater installations mining for oil deposits in deep underwater resovoirs inadvertently disturb a series of tectonic plates off the cost of Florida and Georgia.  Violent earthquakes soon erupt all along the south-eastern coast of the United States, and much of Florida is lost to the ocean.  The shift of land is so violent that it rips a pathway for the Atlantic Ocean all the way to Atlanta, GA where miraculously the central downtown area is spared.  Yet, all around the city little is left but burning rubble.  In honor of the tens of millions that lost their lives world wide to both the devastation of war and natural disaster, the US capital is relocated from Washington DC to Atlanta, Georgia.  The now twice burned metropolis is renamed, New Atlanta, and a phenomenal world wide effort that will last for the next 16 years gets underway.  The surviving city is made stronger than ever before, and lifted nearly 100 feet above the skyline of all other surrounding building.  Suspended in air, the city is supported upon the backs of colossal stone and iron statues commemorating the lost.  One 150 foot statue guards the port of New Atlanta, looking out into the Eastern sky, while the other stands guard next to the city center, raising high a glowing sword of  victory.
